Although temporary Internet files are helpful when accessing a site you frequently visit due to the stored information, these files can put your privacy at risk if spyware or malicious software gains access to the files. The key to keeping your identity safe is to delete your temporary Internet files after closing your browser. Instructions
- Open your browser. Click the "Safari" icon and click "Safari" at the top of the screen followed by clicking "Empty Cache" from the drop-down menu. Click "Safari" again, followed by clicking "Preferences."
- Click the "Autofill" tab and click "Edit" next to the "Other Forms" section. Click the "Remove All" button, followed by clicking "Done." Uncheck the box next to "Other Forms." Click the red button in the upper-left corner to close the box.
- For FireFox, click "Tools" at the top of the browser and click "Clear Recent History." Select the time range to clear, and click "OK."
- For Google Chrome, click "Chrome" at the top of the browser and click "Clear Browsing Data" from the drop-down menu. Alternatively, you can click "Chrome" and click "Preferences," followed by clicking the "Personal Stuff" button. Click the "Clear Browsing Data" and click the red button located at the left corner of the box to close it.
- Restart your browser.
