Older Mac computers won't auto-defragment their hard drives. You would need software like the Disk Defrag to do it. Read on to learn how to defragment files on a Mac computer.
Instructions
- Download Disk Defrag from the Version Tracker website.
- Install the program and run it.
- Once that is done, select the hard drive that you wish to defrag and click on the "Defrag" button.
- Your Mac will start to defragment the hard drive. You might want to leave the computer on overnight for it to complete its task.
Tips & Warnings
The process will take a while. It's best to do this just before going to sleep.
Do not defragment your drives too often as this increases wear and tear.
